About Victoria Young

A native of New York City, Dr. Victoria Young has practiced social work and psychotherapy around the country including New York, San Francisco, and now Baltimore, where she has dedicated her practice for the past 10 years.

Dr. Young works with adult individuals and couples  who are seeking help dealing with a variety of issues including, but not limited to, relationship conflicts, grief/loss, recovery from sexual or physical abuse, workplace issues, anxiety, depression, and general life transitions such as becoming parents, aging, or divorce. Her training and experience in treating people with chronic mental and medical conditions makes her an ideal counselor for adult children of aging parents, parents of challenged children, plus other caregivers including doctors and therapists dealing with chronic illness, grief and loss.

As a psychotherapist, Dr. Young has treated diverse populations in both outpatient and hospital settings, including The Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services in New York; Johns Hopkins Out-Patient Psychiatry in Baltimore, California Pacific Medical Center; Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York; and Johns Hopkins Bayview Care Center in Baltimore. She has served on the Ethics Committees of several hospitals.

As an educator, Dr. Young has been an adjunct professor at New York University Silver School of Social Work, and at the University Of Maryland School Of Social Work, for graduate level students in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness, the treatment of complex grief, and the emotional care of the chronically or terminally ill. Victoria has also conducted workshops at the Jewish Social Service Agency in Rockville, MD in the treatment of personality disorders and psychodynamic treatment approaches.

Dr. Young earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Social Work at the Silver School of Social Work at New York University. She also has advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) through the EMDR International Association.
